From the Roots Up: Community Safety and Healing Fund
The Community Safety and Healing Fund (CSHF), initiated in 2022, has blossomed into a powerful, participatory grantmaking program based on trust-based philanthropy principles at the Community Foundation of Louisville. The Fund received a remarkable over $500,000 from donors during the Fall of 2023 and is here to offer its next round of grant funding to organizations promoting higher safety, healing, and resilience levels.
What’s new to this grant opportunity?
This round of funding includes targeted support for the most violent blocks identified by the Louisville Metro Gun Violence Dashboard and is focused on supporting organizations to expand their capacity for summer violence prevention programming with continued support for young people ages 15-24. Through deep collaboration with city government, local and national subject-matter experts, and philanthropic partners, the grant opportunity will prioritize organizations serving those outlined in the Dashboard and/or serving residents of zip codes 40203, 40210, 40212, 40211, 40219, and 40215.
What will this round of funding support?
While past rounds of funding have focused on gun violence intervention, this round will focus on violence prevention efforts. This targeted focus is part of a broader strategy and an action-based framework to direct the Community Foundation’s grantmaking toward enhancing Louisville’s well-being.
