Dionne Griffiths
Dionne C. Griffiths was raised in Louisville, KY, and spent most of her career there. She has also lived and worked in several cities and states, which informs her worldview. Dionne is the Program Officer of Health Equity and joined the Community Foundation of Louisville in September 2024. She appreciates the Foundation’s community-centered approach to philanthropy.
Dionne has over 17 years of professional experience, including philanthropy, fundraising, grantmaking, endowment fund account management, and community leadership. Dionne is an authentic relationship builder, community advocate, and racial and gender equity strategist.
Dionne graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with her Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Women’s Studies (dance minor) from Spelman College. She earned a Master of Arts in Choreography from UNC – Greensboro. With Dionne’s passion for and commitment to dance and diverse cultures, she was awarded a prestigious Fulbright Fellowship to the Caribbean country of Trinidad, where she researched, choreographed, and performed dance for 10 months. With her commitment to effective leadership and communication, in 2019, she earned her Master of Science in Business Communication with concentrations in organizational leadership and nonprofit administration from Spalding University.
Dionne has over 11 years of volunteer community leadership experience. This includes her being a charter member and the first president of the Louisville Chapter of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College (2014 – 2016) and being a graduate of the Leadership Louisville Center’s Ignite Louisville Class of 2021. She has also volunteered in the arts and youth enrichment.
Dionne values lifelong learning, diversity of thought and experience, empowerment, cultural humility, and cross-cultural understanding. She is motivated and humbled by her ancestors on whose shoulders she stands. Dionne enjoys the arts, festivals, museums, documentaries, and travel. She believes everyone has something to learn and something to teach. One of her favorite quotes is: “To whom much is given, much is required.”
