Ellie Smith
“Whatever you are, be a good one.” -William Makepeace Thackeray
Ellie Smith joined the Community Foundation as the Scholarship Program Coordinator in August 2023. She was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, and graduated with honors from Western Kentucky University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
After graduation, Ellie entered the nonprofit sector with a goal of utilizing her skills to best help serve others. She worked as a therapeutic aide at Centerstone (formerly Seven County Services), serving students both at home and in the classroom setting.
Ellie then pivoted to another local nonprofit, the Filson Historical Society, and worked as an Administrative Assistant before she was promoted to Business Manager.
She received her Master’s in Education from the University of Louisville in 2022, where she worked as a Graduate Peer Counselor in the Student Financial Aid Office, then went on to work full-time in their Fiscal, Operational, and Scholarship Management Team. Ellie served as the point of contact for all outside scholarships coming into the University. Ellie is excited to build upon her experiences in the financial aid office and use her expertise to help enhance the Foundation’s scholarship program.
In her free time, Ellie enjoys attending concerts, playing sand volleyball, and traveling with her friends and family.
