Valerie Sickles

Valerie Sickles joined the Community Foundation of Louisville as the Director of Marketing & Communications in May 2021 and was named Vice President of Marketing & Communications in November 2022. Valerie collaboratively leads the development and management of the Foundation’s identity, visibility, and marketing strategy, thus, furthering the Foundation’s goals for asset growth, philanthropy, and community leadership. She directs the marketing and communications team on special projects and creative development through storytelling, content, and digital strategies, and collaborates with internal and external teams to develop partnerships.
Prior to joining the Community Foundation of Louisville, Valerie was Chief of Staff for a local entrepreneur leading strategic business initiatives and the daily operations of enterprise projects. She also had a highly successful career in media, serving as Corporate Marketing Manager for Alpha Media USA. In this role, Valerie provided marketing support to 246 radio stations in all 50 Alpha Media markets across the U.S. She also previously held the position of Director of Urban Promotions and Community Affairs for Alpha Media – Louisville, where she was responsible for coordinating and implementing all marketing initiatives, sales and on-air promotions and special events, and served as Midday on-air personality on WMJM – Magic 101.3.
Valerie received a “Superstar Profile” in Radio Ink Magazine and was recognized as a Future African American Leader in Radio. She also received the esteemed Static Major Award named for the Grammy award winning producer, writer, and recording artist Stephen “Static Major” Garrett.
Outside of her passion for her work, Valerie loves to travel, is an avid sports fan, is an advocate for the performing arts, and can always be found listening to her first love – music!
